OPEN Movement is a judgement-free dance class that is not about dancing. It's a radically soft and individually-centered experience that provides a dedicated hour to listen to your body. Stretch, strengthen, and center your mind, body, and creativity.
Zoom class every Tuesday from 7 to 8pm in the comfort of your own living space
The classes pull from a range of somatic techniques such as: guided imagery for relaxation, authentic movement, Body Mind Centering (BMC), Bartenieff Fundamentals, physical therapy practices, Pilates, and Yoga.
Classes encourage risk-taking in a safe environment and focusing and exploring our individual experiences, while acknowledging the group and contributing to its safe and open community.
Marcia Custer, who facilitates the class, is a movement and sound-based performance artist with a penchant for both the bizarre and the sublime. Her original work has been performed at Pitchfork Music Festival, Elastic Arts Chicago, Museum of Contemporary Art Cleveland, Transformer Station, and basements, backyards, and bookstores across the U.S. Custer’s performance work is rooted in feminist and queer approaches to embodiment, experimental sound, and radical community dance practice. She is a somatic educator and creative producer currently working in Cleveland, Ohio.
OPEN Movement holds space and celebrates all bodies, all levels, all identities, always!
